2023 Video Yearbook: Recap

Was I looking forward to this video? No. Did I enjoy watching it for 99% of the time? Yes.

The Phillies Video Yearbook never disappoints. Regardless of the season's outcome, after we finish watching, we can all sit back and appreciate the team/organization and what they accomplished. (The past 2-3 years). After 10 long years of incompetent Phillies teams, we're realizing that we have a competitive nucleus that's good enough to win a championship year in and year out. (Do something, Dave)

I would give Trea a B- when it comes to narrating. (That's generous). I think Schwarbs did a better job last year. Obviously, these dudes are baseball players and not narrators, but we could've used a little more life in Trea's voice. It was a very monotone narration. Obviously, it's scripted. Obviously, he's reading off a piece of paper. But it could've been read in a way where it felt more personable rather than scripted. Maybe I'm being too critical, but it's something I noticed when listening. It also seemed like the audio or volume wasn't right, no?

Like I said before, 99% of this video was pure happiness. We all knew the outcome of the season, but that didn't keep us from being as happy as we can be when we watched our guys shit on the Braves in the NLDS for a second straight year. If I'm being honest, I don't really remember what happened after the NLDS. Amnesia or something. All I know is that we smacked the Braves in the playoffs for a second straight year. Harper went off, Castellanos owns Strider, and the Braves offense looks like a little league team against our pitching staff.

We obviously can't forget about the Arcia moments... Atta boy Arcia!

Also, enjoy this edit I made of Phillies fans chanting "We want Strider... We want Strider" in Game 3 of the NLDS. Following us screaming this, Jeff Francoeur insinuates that chanting this was a bad decision and that the fans were only fueling the fire for Strider. Our offense proceeded to shit on Strider and solidify the series win.

In all honesty, the ending of the Phillies yearbook video was emotional. This team, especially Harper, deserves a championship. They want it just as much as we fans want it. Baseball is a different game. In my opinion, it's the hardest sport to win a championship in out of the 4 major sports. I'm doing my best not to mention the D-Backs series. Hopefully, they win one in the coming years. Our window is closing.

Here's a photo that sums up the Phillies and Braves relationship as of now:

Happy New Year, Phillies fans!
